Is there any difference in nuance between "Although hurt" and "Although he was hurt"?
"Although he was hurt, Jack managed to smile. " "Although hurt, Jack managed to smile. "
They both have the same meaning.
There's no difference despite this that 'Although hurt' is a reduced adverbial form of 'Although someone was hurt', and the first one is used as a phrase while the second one is used as a clause.
