Could anyone help me to answer these questions? Thank you very much!!! Extract: "In a traditional sense, libraries are places with a large collection of books. However, the digital age has given today's libraries new means of storing and retrieving information on media other than the printed pages. CD-ROMs, videos and DVDs are widely used in public libraries, and they serve both the libraries and the readers." Why they use "the" in "the printed pages", "the libraries", "the readers"? What makes them are defined? If it's not correct, Could you help me to correct them?

It's correct, so don't worry about that. What defines the libraries & readers is that these new media do not serve any all libraries -- just those that they belong to. Likewise, not all those who can read gain benefit from the DVDs and CDs; only those who attend the libaries do.
