Which sounds most natural? took/ride an elevator up ~ He took an elevator up into the room. He ride an elevator up to the upper floor into the room. Then he went up by the elevator and came into the room.He rode an elevator up to the upper floor into the room.

This is most natural: "He took an elevator up **to** the room." This is also OK: "He rode an elevator to the upper floor and then went into his room." This is less common but it's OK, if you want to focus on the idea that he went by elevator (and not by the stairs): "Then he went up by elevator and came into the room."

I'd agree that 'took' is the most usual. In British English, we'd say 'I took the lift'.
