You would be well advised to ... = I suggest that you would be well advised to.... "would be well advised..." is in the subjunctive mood, to show the tentative nature of the suggestion. It is a suggestion that you may or may not follow. It is tentative and therefore more polite. On the other hand, greater politeness can sometimes take on a stronger, even menacing, undertone. For example, if you were working for an authoritarian boss or regime, and if you were told, "You would be well advised to....",.then perhaps you might conclude that you had no choice. Anyway, why would anyone want to change it and replace "would"? It is established usage.
