Say that Still having a doubts with this verb + preposition Say that: is it using with all tenses of say?. And with which other verbs you can use that after it?. Could you give any examples please? Mine: he said ( that or not that) yesterday He Was tired. He comments ( that or not that) this food is delicious. Really thanks. Could you please correct any mistake you could find here?.

The word 'that' is optional after 'say'. He said he was tired. He said that he was tired. There is no difference between these sentences, and yes, you can omit 'that' in all tenses of 'say', for example: He'll say he was tired. He'd say he was tired. He was saying he was tired.
