The internet has many resources which can be useful, however from my experience and understanding, the number one important thing you can do is practice speaking. This is so, so, so important, and it's not enough to just try to talk to yourself, you need someone who knows the language at a high enough level. And, of course, that's exactly what italki is all about A tip I would add is that the more you can surround yourself with the language, the better and quicker you'll learn, but this in addition to, not in place of, speaking. Personally speaking, teachers and students have actually physical interaction whether in reality or virtual world if you are not going to be a sportman or woman. Speaking correction, writing correction, listening practices, reading is also available when both of you can read the same website on the same page to discuss with each other, more likely to approach tutoring. It sounds good actually. (^-^)
