How to study English by my own, need advice I had learned English in some centers a year ago, but I found they taught me slowly, so I quit and do self study at home. After studying one year, my English haven't improved much. I really need some advice. What should I do to improve quicker. Thank you so much!

Maggie: What you have already learned should be of great help to you. I am adding a link to my Notebook Entries in which I list some songs which are sung slowly. They serve for short and easy lessons in English sentence construction and serve for exercises in pronunciation. You can also find the lyrics to all of these songs in my Notebook Entries. http://www.italki.com/entry/454515 You can benefit by reading over these lyrics also with a language partner on Skype. Also, you can improve your English speaking by using some Nursery Rhymes and reading them repeatedly until you can read them smoothly without hesitation. Some of these can be found in my Notebook Entries. First would be THERE WAS AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A FLY Second would be THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT. Otherwise, song lyrics serve for excellent English lessons and especially so if you already have some ability in the language. You can practice with songs alone and practice reading over their lyrics with a language partner. Otherwise, feel free to use my Notebook Entries as study material for self study.
