when am I going to use this? Hi! Can someone educate me when to use can and could?

I can ___ = I am able to ____ I could ___= I am able to ___, but it depends if I want to. For example, "I can run fast" means I am physically capable of running fast. "I could run fast" means I can run fast but I may choose not to. It's my decision.
