Ed is correct; there are many meanings. I'll try to give some examples: Usually if you "hold" something, you have it in your hands. You can "catch" a ball if someone throws it to you. Usually "carry" involves movement, for example carrying groceries into the house from the car. If you're carrying something and you go away, you "take" it with you. I hope those examples help.
