tedious it was a still day, not hot, but tedious, as it usually is when the weather is gray and dull, when clouds have been hanging over the fields for a long time, and you wait for the rain that does not come. What does tedious mean in the sentence? I know the meaning of the word in the dictionary but there is not explanation for it when it is used to describe weather. Thanks.

Here I think the author is referring to the time passing very slowly due to the weather

"Tedious" here is modifying "day", not the weather on that day. Matt has given you the meaning.
