She makes decisions using her heart not her mind. what's the adjective for that? If we say a person is always making decisions by weighing pros and cons. We say the person is very rational, am I right? When it's the opposite of that, what's the word? I don't want to say irrational. That sounds negative. sentimental seems to mean he has a lot of touchy feelings but not necessarily making decisions based on those feelings. emotional means he's got a lot of emotions and is easy to make a tantrum or become very excited. sensitive means he can sense other's moods' changes very well and he's caring or that he's irritated easily. Am I right about any of this? And what's the word? I'm looking through a Thesaurus and I can't find a word that feels right. Tks.

Your analysis is right. If you have to choose one of your options, "emotional" is the best, but it's not right. I'm not sure there is one good word here. I'd say the person "relies on his gut" which means he makes decisions based on what feels right, rather than relying on analysis. This person would tend to be "intuitive" but that word alone doesn't quite fit as an "opposite" to rational.

"Intuitive?"

There's nothing obvious for me. Perhaps "instinctive" is a good one.
