Adjectives form Hi everyone, Could anyone tell me how this adjective construction is called? "The hotter it gets, the greater the danger from air pollution" " The more fruit and vegetables you eat, the more resistant your skin becomes to the sun´s harmful rays" I know the adjectives in these sentences are in a comparative form but I want to study the grammar of these kind of sentences because these are new sentences for me. Thanks and merry christmas!!

Hi Seb, That comparative construction is called the "comparative correlative", the "correlative construction" or the "conditional comparative". However, if your purpose is to study this grammatical structure on the Internet, I suggest you google "the...the structure" or "the...the construction", it's way easier to find information! Merry Christmas!

The sentence before the comma is an adverbial clause of comparison, the one after the comma is a main clause.
