What do "oot" and "oon" Mean In English? I hear these Finnish words a lot in spoken language... what are they short for? Do they simply mean "I am" and "you are" ?

Yes, "oon" is short for "olen" and "oot" is short for "olet".

The difference between spoken and written language is: mä oon = minä olen sä oot = sinä olet toi /se o = hän on me ollaan = me olemme te ootte = te olette ne o = he ovat
