The failed immaculate conception
These are the titles of three prints by Ernst:
‘‘The failed immaculate conception,’’ ‘‘The same for the second . . . ,’’ and ‘‘. . . and the third time failed.’’
does "failed" here mean "fake"? does any one have any information about the context of these prints?
This kind of interpretation falls into the category of art, and each person may take away a different impression. Be aware, if you are not already, of the Immaculate Conception and its role in Christianity.
