would honor the freedom of mind in science and print and speech??? At most we presume that our teachers and leaders would brook no restraint upon their inculcation of the Christian code, and that, if necessary, they would leave the costly pulpit and preach, like Christ, along the highways and byways of men. We trust, too, that a strengthened and purified church would honor the freedom of mind in science and print and speech, and would recognize that the good and the beautiful may shine out in sages, rebels, and poets as well as in prophets and saints. Indeed the new church would welcome the accumulation of a second Bible, recording the most inspiring thoughts and actions of every race of men. Who will be the Plutarch of the moral heroes of history? 1) For "would honor the freedom of mind in science and print and speech", whether it means " would honor the freedom of mind in aspects of science and print and speech" ? 2) Please kindly help explain the last sentence. Thanks.

1 means: The church would support these freedoms: Of mind in scientists = scientists should be able to develop and publish points of view contrary to church teachings. Print and speech = all people should be able to write and say what they think, regardless of what the church thinks. 2. Plutarch was a Greek historian who criticized other historians for not having belief in these freedoms.so this sentence asks, "Who today will challenge what has been written, and accurately and honestly report on what was believed and said, even those things that were contrary to church teachings?"
