What do you see in Hiragana characters ? ( for learning ) Hello I noticed that a lot of people are learning Japense characters from thinking of a image or a story behind it, I noticed I personally do it aswell but most of time I get stuck because they look for me all kinda similar and/or the idea I get for a character is getting repetitive. ku '' く '' I think of a beak from a bird, which is opening up for making the ku sound A ''あ'' A cross from Jesus and below it his fish Shi ''し'' I saw a video and they said you can think of a girl like in ''she'' and the character is her hair Just a small example of what I mean.

Hi, Eugene, When I started with Hiragana, I was lucky to pick up an awesome book by Timothy G. Stout called "Japanese Hiragana & Katakana for Beginners". I think I learned both in one day! There are picture mnemonics that bind together the "look" and the pronunciation of both alphabets. It makes it super easy to learn. If you want a free one, there is a guide by one of iTalki's tutors on her website: http://www.japaneseammo.com/the-easiest-way-to-learn-hiragana/ I like that one as well. Hope this helps! My favourite one is ゆ = YOU stabbed the fish! Ha ha! Enjoy!

seeing images is a time waste... it's more convenient to memorize them in words
