How can we know that the answer is two apart words or just one compound word in IELTS. For example,when I hear the answer is newtown.Then New Town or Newtown,which is the correct answer?Or both are right?

Probably two words, unless they're talking about an actual town called Newtown, such as Newtown, Pennsylvania.
