What's the meaning of the spanish word "las pollerías"? Is the "pollería" a place where the "paella" is served? The word was from the following sentence: "En la ciudad las han reemplazado las pollerías, los chifas, las pizzerías, los McDonalds, los restaurantes vegetarianos y de comida fusión." According to how the Spanish language works, 'pollería' has more to do with pollo than with 'paella'. Although not the only one, the first idea we get when we hear the word 'pollería' is a shop where you can buy chicken meat. When reading the article your sentence comes from though, what comes to mind is something similar to Kentucky Fried Chicken or other chains or specialized chicken restaurants. Also, it seems very unlikely that anybody would come up with the crazy idea of opening a 'paellería' (a specialized paella restaurant) in Cusco.
