comic idiom What does "The character Mr. Wang was derived from the Western comic idiom with all the familiar tropes of family life in the city." mean here??? can you explain the "comic idiom" to me a little, please? "With 3,000 copies a week in circulation, Shanghai Sketch developed a few serial characters, including Ye Qianyu’s Mr. Wang, who first appeared in 1928. The character Mr. Wang was derived from the Western comic idiom with all the familiar tropes of family life in the city."

Hey that is indeed a strange sentence! This is what I understood: Mr. Wang is the tipical person from the western part of the world and he also has a family. The problem that a family would encounter in Europa are surely different from the ones of an asian family so this character leads a typical life of a "westerner". do you agree? :)
