It doesn't sound like he is in love with her. All we know is that he feels uncomfortable in her company. We don't know why, and he may not know why, either. It sounds like he doesn't trust her, or that he suspects that there is something suspicious or unpleasant about her.

We are not told why. Perhaps the man himself doesn't know why! Sometimes people make you feel uncomfortable and you can't explain it.
