This paragraph imitates the style of Captain Kirk, the captain of the Starship Enterprise (a spaceship) in the classic American science fiction TV series "Star Trek". The first sentence is in the format of how Captain Kirk started his dictation of entries in the starship diary ("log") It will mean nothing if you have not seen the series. It doesn't add anything to the instructions for the exercise.
