Favours/favors are little gifts which are given by party hosts to their guests. Some of these guests dropped their gifts on the path. and they are still lying there amid the fruit rinds and crushed flowers.

"favours" in this context are fancy little gifts that a host puts on dining tables for each guest to take away - perhaps some chocolates or some other small luxury. I have only heard of them in the context of wedding banquets (meals) but perhaps in the old days, they were common at other high-class meals too.
