A few questions about translating a German article My classmate and I faced a few problems while translating a text about mandatory vaccination from German to Russian. The text in question is this one - http://dw.de/p/1EglR 1) "Wichtig ist auch festzustellen, dass nicht jeder, der sein Kind nicht impfen lässt, ein Impfgegner ist", sagt sie. Häufig seien ganz banale Gründe schuld daran, dass der Impfschutz fehle. Zum Beispiel eine schlechte Alltagsorganisation in den Familien. Initially I translated the word "Alltagsorganisation" as the organization of daily life, but it seems to have no logical connection to the previous sentence. What does daily routine have to do with the lack of vaccination? 2) "So erspart man sich den Weg zum Arzt und mögliche Nebenwirkungen und genießt trotzdem den sogenannten Herdenschutz, also den Schutz, den alle anderen um mich herum aufgebaut haben", erklärt Betsch die Gedanken solcher Eltern. "Herdenschutz" - is there a fixed word or expression in English for this word?

For the first question: I read the German text before I read your question and stumbled over the same thing. It didn't make any sense to me. So I guess your translation is right, it's just a lame reason. :) As for the second question, I guess herd immunity is the correct translation (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_immunity)
