Highly/extremely What is the difference between 'highly' and 'extremely'? How should I say "highly difficult" or ''extremely dufficult"?

'Extremely' is all-purpose intensifier which can strengthen any adjective or adverb. 'Highly' can only be used certain specific collocations, for example 'highly qualified' or 'highly respected' or 'highly likely/unlikely'. You should only use it in collocations which you know are accepted. We wouldn't say 'highly expensive'.
