What's the most common way to greet in Dutch I'd like to know how you usually say hello to someone in Dutch, what words do you use the most? I don't reffer to all the types of greetings you know, I just want to know which ones you personally use the most. For example, what do you usually say when you enter the store, when you see your friend, when you meet an adult you don't know... I know "Dag!" is both formal and informal, but I want to know if you use it most of the time or not. Also, how often do you use "Hallo", "Hoi" or "Doei" if you're leaving? I'm also more interested in spoken language and informal situations, so if you use something I haven't mentioned I'd like to know it. Thanks in advance :)

I hardly ever use 'Dag' (but it doesn't sound wrong). Informally, i mostly use Hoi/Hai/Hee Formally, I mostly use 'Hallo' ('Goedendag' etc. I mainly use in letters, not that much when speaking). Hope that helps :)

Usually, I said "Goeie morgen", "Goeie dag", "Goeie avond". And formal occassion I change the "goeie" to "goede".
