Motels are located along highways and major roads. The name is short for "Motor hotel" and it usually signifies that the customer can park their car right outside of their room.

In Mexico, Motel is just a place to stay for a few hours and Hotel is for sleep all night.

Motels also have fewer facilities than hotels. People use motels just as somewhere to sleep when they are on a long journey. A motel often just has parking, a few rooms to stay in, a basic reception area, and nothing else. Hotels tend to be more comfortable. Most hotels have a bar and restaurant, and many have a pool, a gym and so on. You wouldn't expect to find these facilities in motel.

I guess, that motels are small rest-spots located anywhere, they don't grant you a long term service (like accommodation), but can prove handy in fueling your empty stomach. correction required, if wrong... please. Thanks

I think that, MOTEL is smallest than HOTEL and Motels don't have any services like Hotels (breakfast, dinner, launch etc) or just a sleep and nothing else like Hotels do.
