"understand" or "understood"? What's the difference between them? Cheers :)

"Understood" is the past tense of "understand." So you use "understand" for things that are happening now: "Oh, yes, I understand now, thank you for explaining." And you use "understood" for things that already happened: "After he explained himself, I understood."
