What does "blunder on " mean here? He knew it would be insane to blunder on through the dark, even if he had the strength. In the sentence above, what does" blunder on" mean?

to blunder means to move about blindly or clumsily. It is dark, so he can't see where he is going, so he is 'blundering on".
