Dear friends, I'm curious why does Elizabeth II always wear hats?

Lots of reasons... The Queen is a relic (in the nicest possible way) of an earlier era. Up until the 1960s, no self-respecting person would ever be seen in public without a hat and gloves. She is carrying on that convention. To look smart and 'dressed up' and make a complete outfit (co-ordinated dress/coat, hat, gloves and shoes) . People stand outside for hours in patient crowds and queues waiting to see the Queen, so the least she can do is make an effort to dress up for them. People expect her to dress like this. She often attends events where other people are wearing official headgear - religious, military and ceremonial wear, for example. It wouldn't be practical for her to wear a crown at most of these events, so the hat serves as a kind of substitute. At evening events she often wears a tiara, but for daytime wear, her smart hat and coat outfit is her 'uniform'. She's tiny - only about 1m 50.

As a non-British person I can't possibly contribute anything useful, but I just wanted to say that this question made me smile. Thank you for that! :)

I think Her Majesty likes them very much.
