Sometimes using negative first person "fahmidan" sounds like you're disrespecting yourself, and more importantly using negative/question second person form of it sounds like you're disrespecting the other person. So "motevajjeh shodan" is preferred.
That's for formal contexts. In informal or friendly contexts there's not much difference.
