What should I focus on after studying hiragana I now know bother hiragana and katakana. But I'm stuck, should I focus on studying my first few kanji. Or should I focus on grammar with a little kanji in between?

Well, I can't say what would work best for you because every person is different but what I did when I was starting with Japanese was : a) read material easy to understand b) adquire vocabulary through context c) learn basic grammar like the use of: と を は の に で d) finally, the most basic kanjis like 私 食べる 見る 行く Hope this helps,

You should now learn grammar and all that from a textbook or any other reliable source. I highly recommend to learn kanji as you go along from the very beginning. Good luck!
