Felix
Japanese Name My name is Felix in English. In Katakana my name can be rendered as either: フェリックス。 OR フィリックス。 I find that my name is difficult for others to pronounce in Japanese however, which is a problem. As well as this my name cannot easily be shortened into a nickname - which is a shame as nicknames seem to be commonly used in everyday Japanese conversation. 1) Can anyone provide me with a better way to transliterate my name into Japanese? Can anyone provide me with ways to turn my name into a suitable Japanese nickname? 2) Alternatively, are there any Japanese names that I could use instead of Felix? My name means lucky, fortunate, happy, or love - are there any traditional Japanese names with a similar meaning that I could use? Would it be rude or unusual for a foreigner to adopt a Japanese name if their name is difficult to pronounce?

its not rude, but its strange as you are a foreigner. mine is グレイス。 my friends also struggle with my name, so they just call me ググ... strange choice i know, but I'm afraid there is not much i can do to help you. perhaps use a common foreign name instead of your own. i would recommend not using a japanese name.
