sales hostess/ promoter I wondered if these two names are for the same type of job in supermarkets for ex.trying to sell your product by giving samples to the customers. Maybe different in The USa and The UK? Thanks

I would steer clear of the word 'hostess', if I were you. We tend not to use obviously female or male job descriptions nowadays, preferring gender-neutral terms such as 'flight attendant', 'firefighter' or 'salesperson'. 'Hostess' sounds either old-fashioned or sleazy these days.

Yes they're about the same. Being Canadian I'm more familiar with the word promoter, consultant and saleperson
