I'd like to know if this expression means the same as "to have a fifty-fifty chance".
Example:
There’s an even chance (=a 50-50 chance) that the jury will find him guilty.

"Even" in this case means the same thing as "equal"
Because it is an even chance, it can go either way, 50/50
There is an "equal" chance the jury will find him guilty.
