Where Is The Battleside Of Chi Bi? I was planning to write a Chinese notebook entry about the most epic Chinese sea battle during the time of the 3 kingdoms. It is known as the battle of Chi Bi. Wu and Shu fleets, lead by Sun Jian and Liu Bei, allied together against the fleet of Wei under the command of Cao Cao. But a Chinese told me that it is not sure where the battle ever was situated. That is strange because Chi Bi must be the name of a village or a river, is that right? So, is Chi Bi now a river or a city or is it true that even the Chinese historians do not know where the battle really happened? 多谢!o^_^o

This war broke out 2000 year ago. It happened in Hubei Province. However, in Hubei Province, there are more than one place named Chibi and the original historical record did not say clearly about it.

Lead by Liu Bei and Sun Quan. Chi Bi is a name of a city along the Yangtze River. The campaign occurred here was even made into a film. It is one of the three famous battles which won by using the few to defeat the many over the Chinese history.

According to history the battlefield should be 乌林(今天的湖北省荆州市洪湖), because the battle was happened around the north side of the Yangtze River, certainly Cao Cao's fleet base was on the north side, and it was him who suffered attack. 赤壁 was the fleet base of the other side, on the south side. That's the reason why 乌林 was the real battlefield.
