talking about a wedding anniversary
I have been researching how to say that "This year I will have been married for 40 years". I know how to say "I am married: - 私は結婚しています。But on reflection, realised that I didn't know how to express the idea of when I started being in that state - although I figured I could maybe use the ’になる’ form which seems to be useful for expressing change of state. So, I came up with this去年に 私は結婚40周年になります。I suspect the に after去年 isn't strictly necessary, unless I wanted to emphasise that THIS YEAR is my 40th anniversary? Which reminds me - in English that is probably what we would say - this year is my (our) 40th wedding anniversary.
How would I say that in Japanese?
And one last question - it doesn't sound odd in English to talk about 'my wedding anniversary', even though, of course there are two people involved. In Japanese, is it more common to use 私 or 私たち in this context?
Thanks
