meaning of " bound to..." Hi everyone, I'd like to know the meaning of this expression, in sentences like this: "I'm bound to be surprised" I guess it means something like " to be sure" but, according to other people who I talked to, it may mean even something else, but I don't remember what. Can somebody please explain to me the different meanings of this expression, perhaps giving me some more examples? Thanks a lot!

Yes you are right. It means certain to do something. For example. " Do you know where this place is?" " No, but ask John, he is bound to know" Hope this helps
