What's the difference of "in future" and "in the future"? What's the difference of the two expressions? Please give some examples.

Most people say, "In the future". For example: "In the future we will have flying cars!" "In future" sounds wrong... I can't think of an instance when I would say that. It needs "the". Hope that helps!

In future you should make sure your spare tire is in good condition. We use 'in future' to make suggestions or state our intentions for our future behaviour
