How do I answer these questions? Hey, all! I'm having a little trouble when it comes to answering certain questions, as I never know how to answer it exactly. I'll write it in romaji as I'm having keyboard difficulties at the moment. You're welcome to reply in Japanese but please don't use kanji :) For example. If someone asked "shinbun o yomimasu ka." Could I reply with "yomimasen" or would I have to reply with "shinbun o yomimasen"? & if I were asked "ima nan gatsu omare desu ka" could I say "go gatsu" or is it "go gatsu desu" or "go gatsu omare desu"? ありがとうございます

Japanese is very flexible in such circumstances. If you want to say " I don't read the newspaper " , you can say しんぶんをよみません or just よみません since the purpose of the question is to find out whether you read or not. the question is probably なんがつうまれですか without the いま because it would not make sense technically, replying with ごがつ is correct; however it is seen as a slightly rude reply so it may be better including です Again, you can use whichever, as long as the purpose ( which is to find out what month you were born ) is stated.
