¿Cómo se traduce "to claim" en este contexto? ¡Hola a todos! En inglés puede decir oraciones como lo siguiente: "Australia claimed him as one of their/its own, even though he was from New Zealand!" "Pavlova is a popular dessert in Australia and New Zealand. Both countries claim it as their own.¨ ¡Espero escucharlos pronto! Tim

I think you just hit a nerve. The answers given make perfect sense, but I would like to add (in México at least) you could also say: "Tanto Australia como Nueva Zelanda se adjudican la creación del Pavlova". which would be interpreted to something like: "Both Australia and New Zealand claim the creation of Pavlova". I think "adjudicar" is what you are looking for since it means nobody has awarded what's being mentioned, but that they are taking ownership of it by themselves. Hope this helps!

Yo en este caso utilizaría el verbo Atribuir: Ambos países se lo atribuyen como suyo. Australia se lo atribuye como suyo. Reclamar en españa significa algo un poco diferente. Saludos! ;)
