Icelandic genitive? When using the Icelandic genitive and saying 'the child's cat', you put child' in the definite genitive form, right? But what if I wanted to say 'A child's cat'? Or...'A person's house'. Is it as simple as using the indefinite genitive form? Or not?

You've got it right. "the child's cat" => köttur barnsins (more specifically "a cat of the child", as opposed to "the cat of the child") "a child's cat" => köttur barns :)
