How would I respond to '뭐해?' I'm learning Korean and I seem to trip on this question. It's basically 'what's up?' right? Is there a basic answer or do I just ask back? Or are they actually asking for what I am doing/ how I am doing? Thanks!

Yes, they're asking you what you're doing at the moment. You can answer: 그냥 있어, 아무 것도 안해 ; nothing special. TV 보고 있어 요리하고 있어 자고 있었어 노래듣고 있었어 인터넷하고 있어 영화보고 있어 밥먹고 있어 etc. :)

Yes, they are literally asking for 'what you are doing' now :)
