Irish: to appear / seem / look sad, happy, confident, etc.
I got this sentence from focloir.ie. Is it correct?
Tá cuma bhrónach uirthi.
= She appears / seems / looks sad.
Also, brónach is a noun, correct? So a noun always comes after cuma here?
"Tá cuma bhrónach uirthi" is correct.
"Brónach" is an adjective (from the noun "brón" = "sadness, sorrow"). Generally "cuma" (meaning "appearence, aspect") is followed by an adjective, but a noun can also follow it (e.g. "Tá cuma fearthainne air" = "It looks like rain").
