Esther
use to or not "Why don't we help him get a closer look". Why before "get" didn't we use "to"?

Good question, Esther. After the verb "help," it is optional to use "to." Sometimes we use "to," sometimes we don't -- there's absolutely no difference.

I had a english professor once said "Long sentences isn't always a good thing." Although it can seem correct with the word "to" in the sentence, it sounds so much clearer without it. Sometimes including one additional word can make it hard to understand what you are trying to say. It should be smooth and to the point.
