Peter
How to understand the last two sentence? Karl’s patients become her models, as do her sons. Käthe labours to capture in her images ‘things seen and experienced from the soul’. At her studio table she works as if possessed, sleeves rolled up, hair falling into her eyes, as if to get her visions out of herself. ‘I have never done any work cold,’ she confesses. ‘I have always worked with my blood.’

It's saying that Käthe is very focused on her what she is doing when she works. She works vigorously and ignores everything around her. She's working so hard that she doesn't get cold because her blood is flowing so strongly.
