how do you say "it was you"? in french I listened to a french podcast and heard these two words which is "c'est vous' I'm not really sure if thats correct but thats what I heard phonetically like " se vo"anyways the guy was explaining that it means "it was you" and he gave an example which is "it was you who paid for the movie?" Thanks in advance for the answer!

"it was you" can be basically translated by "c'était toi/vous" toi (for a friend) vous (for being polite, or if it is 2 person or more) So for "it was you who paid for the movie?" You can say it like that : "C'est vous qui avez payé pour le film ?" Other example : - 3 friends together, Friend 1 "Qui à payé pour le film", Friend 2 "c'est moi qui ai payé" Friend 1 " ah okay, mais qui a payé la dernière fois ?" Friend 3 "c'était moi"
