clamp down Could you help me to give examples of "clamp down"?Could you please tell me if this sentence is right? Company clamped down the number of employees.

Hi Clamp down, usually means to stop or slow down. Therefore, it would be correct to say the company clamped down on hiring new employees rather than the ones they have. So, 'clamp down' is usually used with an action. e.g. Clamp down on recruitment.
