Is the phrasal verb, "help out", a formal use? Is the phrasal verb, "help out", a formal use? Can I use the phrasal verb "help out" in a formal essay, for example in IELTS essay. If it is not formal, then are there any other phrases you can use to substitute "help out"?

I would classify it as OK for formal text. I would not be surprised to see in a job description. Ex. "Your duties will include helping out in the kitchen."
