Your sentence makes sense, as does the person's response. He was saying that Enrique's father, Julio Iglesias was also known for womanising.
However I think there are better ways to express this, given that I know that Enrique is much more famous for his singing than for his capabilities with the ladies. It's subtle, but to me saying he is famous for being a womaniser has the connotation that that is the main reason he is famous.

Enrique Iglesias has a reputation as a womaniser.
This is by the by, but hasn't he been in a relationship with Anna Kournikova for a long time now though? Maybe his antics are more widely reported in Spain than here, I wasn't aware that he had any great reputation as a womaniser.
