How different is 'to go into recession" from 'to fall into recession'?

Hey Carlito I don't really see it as "flowery" or "poetic" I think it is just more accurate when we see the dramatic action on the financial markets this week. A drop of 6% is certainly a fall in my opinion. I think it just sounds more sudden. The market can go into recession (more gradual) but a fall is more sudden and dramatic. That's my feeling.

I assume you are talking about financial recessions. I think that 'fall' is perhaps more poetic, and/or journalistic. Journalists love (ab)using different words, to try to make a story more impressive. They will therefore use many 'flowery' words to embellish their stories 'fall' is one example of that.
